이 책은 도몬켄 사진상 수상자인 양승우( 梁丞佑), 1966~)의 사진가로서의 입신 과정과 사진 세계에 대한 자기고백과 작업노트다.

서른 살에 일본으로 건너가 사진학교에 등록하고 일본 다큐멘터리 사진가로 성장해 나가는 과정이 그의 대표작 "신주쿠 미아" . "청춘길일" 등과 함께 수록되어 있다. 고향에서의 목가적인 어린 시절 그리고 '나쁜 친구'들과 어울려 다녔던 청소년 시절, 물 위의 기름처럼 떠 돌았던 청년 시절, 고된 아르바이트로 이어가는 삶이지만 온 정신을 사진에 집중해 온 작가의 솔직한 이야기가 마치 한 편의 영화가 상영되듯 펼쳐진다.

This book is a self-confessional and work notebook about the photographic world and the process of admission as a photographer by Seung-Woo Yang (梁丞佑), 1966~), the recipient of the Domon Ken Photography Award.

His masterpiece "Shinjuku Mia" is the process of moving to Japan at the age of 30, enrolling in a photography school, and growing into a Japanese documentary photographer. It is included along with "Youth Gil Day". The pastoral childhood in the hometown, the youth who hung out with'bad friends', the youth who wandered like oil on the water, the life that leads to a hard part-time job, but the honest story of the artist who has focused his whole mind on photography is like It unfolds as if a movie was being screened.

' 신주쿠는 위험한 곳이니 가지 말라'는 교수들의 만류에도 불구하고 그는 카메라를 메고 신주쿠에 나가 야쿠자를 찍고 홈리스와 살았다. 어느 인터뷰에서 그는 자신의 다큐멘터리 사진을 '사람 사는 냄새'가 나는 사진으로 정의한 바 있다. 그는 '나쁜 친구'들과 '위험한 곳'에서 '사람 사는 냄새'를 맡아온 자진가다.
